John's Pink Drink Shares:

"so i hear the same question all the time:

"how is it that [insert name of another ambassador]'s team is growing at a very fast pace and everyone is duplicating like no one else's business, but some how i can't seem to get anywhere with this business?"

after a bit of thought on the matter, here's just ten of the many reasons why this may be:

1. network

like it or not, we all have a different network that we generally associate with. in one person's network going out to eat on a tuesday night and dropping $150 on a bottle of wine is considered "normal;" while in another person's network that same $150 (on average) would mean the difference of ends meeting that month or not.

what i'm trying to convey is that in one network the conversation likely goes a little something like this:

"get this y'all: i found a fun thing to do on the side while [insert name of spouse] is at work and it just so happens that it involves an awesome company with stellar products. the best part about the whole thing though is that they are 'ONLY' $100 a month!"

while in another network you might hear:

"i know that they are 'expensive,' but these products have helped lots of people and many have quit their jobs thanks to the business opportunity. on that note, if you could just sacrifice buying formula for your baby this month and pay $100 to get started, then hopefully soon we'll both be rich enough to not worry about all of this!"

obviously these are two extreme polar ends of the spectrum, but i hope that you can see my point that one's general network changes how the products and opportunity are both presented and interpreted, not to mention the variable amount of sacrifice that saying "yes" might involve.

2. influence

since we got "networks" out of the way early, let's discuss one's influence over his/her would-be network.

it's a nice thought, but not everyone is equal regarding the influence that he/she holds. and to put it mildly, some people can be just plain irritating, so much so that their pull in certain groups isn't exactly what they perceive it should be.

3. credibility

i see this often, but how in the world do you expect anyone to take you seriously if you switch the companies that you represent every six months?

or perhaps hock multiple companies, whether competing or not?

this clearly shows two things :

a - you really never were committed to your company or it's product, but instead only wanted to make profit on the business opportunity at the expense of your network and ever dwindling credibility, always on the lookout for the perceived next best opportunity and always on the go when it whizzes by and you perhaps desperately attempt to latch on.

b - you're indecisive and clueless to the reality that one rarely makes it a successful go when representing multiple companies. it's far too tempting to cross recruit, way too hard to juggle, and much too easy to quit in lieu of the next shiny object that presents itself.

it's okay to buy from different network marketing companies, but if you really want anyone to take you seriously and therefore succeed in this profession, you should probably pick one horse that you're passionate about and ride it.

4. belief

you set the tone here for your team.

belief not only in the company and it's products, but also in network marketing in general.

i've seen people present products and/or the opportunity not like they were just nervous, but as if they were actually embarrassed about doing so.

i understand this part. i was embarrassed for my wife when she first started this whole thing. it wasn't until i recognized that i, myself, was a chump like so many others that i stopped with the whole "apologizing" that it was a network marketing thing. now i boldly embrace it.

i see it like this:

a - i offer life-changing products, as evidenced by myself and thousands upon thousands of testimonies.

b - i offer a life-changing business opportunity, as evidenced by myself and thousands of testimonies.

5. passion

how in the world do you expect to build a team if you are not overtly passionate about the products, the company, and the business opportunity?

pink mist should form by your very breath.

if you are exhausted from work, then take however long you need to that day, every day, in order to let go of whatever irks you about your job and then quickly turn your frown upside down regarding the possibilities in store for your future through this opportunity.

mundane may be appropriate at your day job, but passion is contagious and will take you far in this profession.

6. determination

what's your limit regarding rejection, looks of pity, unsolicited career advice, and avoidance?

if it's not very high, you might as well quit now.

of every network marketing millionaire that i've ever listened to them telling their-own story, i can tell you that universally they all started out tremendously slow and persevered through many obstacles.

all of them... and i've heard a few dozen of them speak.

exactly NONE of them said it was easy or that they were even good at first. in fact, most said they were terrible, but determined; which leads me to...

7. self-reflection

you said it yourself: "[insert name] is knocking it out of the park with the same products offered by the same company."

so... are you willing to take an honest look inside to see maybe what it is about yourself that you might be able to change in order to help you out?

if so, how well do you receive criticism?

here's my one piece of advice that i would give the most often to people that assured me they could take it:

lose the theatrics.

before facebook, i never knew that people willingly allowed so much drama to completely encompass their life.

then, after i reluctantly became a network marketer and thereby [by default] started having other people's histrionics both directly and indirectly affect me, i sometimes wanted to reach through the computer screen, grab people by the shoulders, shake them vigorously, and figuratively backhanded pimp slap the drama right out of them.

the problem? most of the people that full of drama are the very ones that haven't any idea at all that they are the ones that are indeed full of drama. heck, they might even post on facebook that other people are full of drama, while at the same time everywhere they go and everything they do is a complete spectacle.

junior high is over, people.

it's time to make better decisions.

8. luck

well i'd be remiss if i didn't acknowledge that some people just get lucky, sign up a rockstar or two early on, and then go about riding coattails for the rest of their journey.

it rarely happens.

don't be that person.

9. creativity

sometimes circumstances require you to think outside the box in order to adapt to the problems that come up.

if the only tool that you carry in your network marketing tool-belt is a hammer, then every problem that you encounter will be treated as if it's a nail.

how do you add tools to your tool-belt?

a - read books, listen to audio cd's, watch dvd's, and set aside self development time.

b - experience.

10. leadership skills

by nature, some have more leadership capabilities than others.

do you want a big team and to eventually help lots of people? well, then you must develop leadership skills and take into account everything that is above.

- these are simply my thoughts based upon my experiences thus far.

*disclaimer: this is not regarding any one person in particular, it's simply advice based upon four years of seeing and hearing the same things over and over."

A Picture is worth 1,000 Words! Share Your Story!!!

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and in the case of Plexus I believe it's true! Make sure to note progress along the way! I love how these testimonies share what benefits the customer/ambassador is seeing! I challenge you today to write your story! After you write it, share it!

There are several iPhone apps that make it easy to put pictures together and put text on pictures!
I use Rhonna and InstaCollage as well as PicJointer from the app store.
